The 3 musicians from City Folk played at our Church service in Kildalkey Church near Athboy, Trim Co Meath. They were brilliant. Our German / Irish wedding was made extra special by the band City Folk. They could not have been more obliging and their organisation was very efficient. Their musicians, who were All Ireland Champions on the uileann pipes and fiddle were the best. Also great songs and the caller of the dances, Mareid, was extra special. We had great fun learning the dances she demonstrated along with a helper. The band also played for our drinks reception and main function and afterwards we had a DJ who was also super and played all the songs we requested. Dublin City Folk came to Galway to play at our Church mass, drinks reception, and main function and also to provide a D.J. for late on into the night. The music for the Church was appropriate and greatly added to the ceremony. All our guests complemented the band on their music. The drinks reception was also brilliant. The musicians were very accomplished. The ceili was huge fun and all our guests got up dancing thanks to Mareid whose calling was great. The DJ played well into the night. Just a note to say thank you so much for the legendary performance at our wedding in Beleek Castle in Ballina Co. Mayo in May 2008. It's still talked about as one of the most entertaining, brilliant and quirky receptions that people had ever been to. The music and the ceili meant that both the irish and americans, of all ages, joined in and really let loose for the evening. From the waltzes, ceili songs, the ballads to the 'hokey pokey' people couldnt get enough! Dublin city folk's charm, punctuality, and effortless liaising back and forth with us in the weeks leading up to the wedding and excellent price took a huge amount of stress off us. Brilliant all round. You are a very unique group with a talent to energise an audience. We are so glad we didn't go for the cookie cutter run of the mill wedding band. Thanks for the follow up e-mail, we have just got back from honeymoon so apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Having you at our drinks reception was one of the best decisions we made, you created a great atmosphere and entertained the whole party and people of all ages enjoyed the music and the sing along.
